Not only does San Antonio get another First Friday, but International Women’s Day falls on Sunday. There are events to mark both occasions, as well as activities for runners, paella lovers, and Dr. Seuss fans. First Friday Opening Reception – Rachel Comminos: Connection/True Affection
Artist Rachel Comminos explored fiber arts while pregnant, and the opening of her show “Connection/True Affection” shows the use of tufting, vibrant colors, and organic forms to make fiber paintings. The opening reception of her show falls on First Friday, which showcases art, music, and local vendors in Southtown.

SARR Prickly Pear Trail Run
It’s a beautiful weekend for a trail run, and the San Antonio Road Runners are hosting one with 50K, 15K, and 5K distance options. The 50K starts at 7 a.m., the 15K starts at 8 a.m., and the 5K starts at 8:30 a.m. Find routes, more information, and registration for the race here.

2nd Annual International Women’s Day Summit
The Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women is hosting the second annual International Women’s Day Summit at Texas A&M University-San Antonio on Saturday, open to any and all who are interested. Discussions will cover topics including health care, entrepreneurship, and domestic violence. Attendees should look for Vista Room 402 in the fourth floor of the Central Academic Building (CAB) and park in Lot 2B. Gabriel Iglesias – Beyond The Fluffy World Tour
Beloved comedian and actor Gabriel Iglesias is on his “Beyond the Fluffy” tour and stops in San Antonio on Saturday. Not only is Iglesias busy doing live stand-up, but he’s also hot off of his Netflix show “Mr. Iglesias” that was renewed for another season last August. 30th Annual SA International Woman’s Day March & Rally
Meet at Milam Park at noon to mark International Women’s Day (March 8). At 12:30 p.m., there will be a blessing spoken, and at 1 p.m., the gathered crowd marches. The march will begin and end at Milam Park. This year’s theme is “Our History, Our Future/Nuestra Historia, Nuestro Futuro.”

11th Annual Paella Challenge
Chefs from the United States, Mexico, and high school students will put their culinary skills to the test at the 11th annual Paella Challenge at Mission County Park on Sunday. There are both modern and classic paella challenges, as well as a high school paella challenge featuring a dozen teenaged cooks.
