USAA named Wayne Peacock President of USAA’s Property and Casualty Insurance Group and Heather Cox as USAA’s Chief Technology and Digital Officer on Friday.

Peacock will report to COO Carl Liebert and Cox will report to CEO Stuart Parker.

“It is an honor to lead the best P&C team in the land, serving those who protect America’s freedom,” Peacock stated in a news release. “What’s always present is our commitment to legendary service and innovation.”

Peacock has a Bachelor’s degree in economics from Tulane University and has completed executive education programs at schools such as Harvard, Duke, and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

He has been with USAA since 1988, when he began work in the company’s investment and real estate branch. The San Antonio-based financial services group provides insurance, investment, and retirement services to current and former members of the U.S. military and their families.

For the past decade Peacock has held several roles in member services, strategy and marketing, operations and information technology, and has also played a key role on the association’s executive council team.

Most recently, Peacock served as the executive vice president for USAA’s branch of Enterprise Strategy and Marketing and is currently chairman for the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation (SAEDF). Peacock succeeds Alan Krapf, who recently announced his retirement.

“When we opened the search for Alan’s replacement, we knew we needed another strong leader with extensive business experience and a passion for service excellence and our mission,” Parker stated in a news release. “Wayne meets those qualities. Our members and employees will benefit from his leadership.”

Peacock praised his predecessor’s work and stated that Krapf and the team “have done incredible work this year, in the face of historic weather challenges.”

As USAA’s Chief Technology and Digital Officer, Cox will join the company’s senior leadership team as executive vice president for the branch.

In her new role, Cox will help lead information technology, digital strategy and operations, and experience designs team in fulfilling the mission of USAA.

Cox holds a Bachelor of Arts in international economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Before her new role with USAA, Cox was the CEO of Citi FinTech, a Citigroup branch that focuses on mobile banking. Cox drove innovation and solutions delivery across business lines with a focus on the digital, championed new ways to improve speed to market, and focused on user experience.

“Our members deserve world-class experiences whenever and however they interact with USAA,” Parker stated. “Heather’s appointment reinforces our service commitment in fast-moving areas like digital, technology, and user experience. She’s the right leader to take us where we’re going.”

In May, USAA announced expansion efforts to Austin, and broke the news that the company will nearly double its current workforce by adding and moving more workers to downtown San Antonio. Both moves are expected to happen in early 2017.

USAA’s announcement comes on the heels of a growing workforce trend streaming into the urban core as well as an expanding tech district community.

“USAA is known for innovating and delivering an excellent member experience for the military community,” Cox stated in a news release. “I can’t wait to join the team.”
